Join OAP at our June 10th Convening and meet speaker Andrew Lovell!
Andrew has nearly two decades experience in leadership roles at university, attraction and sport/entertainment organizations in the Philadelphia region. Andrew’s primary successes and roles have been in sales, sales management, marketing, industry relations, catering/food & beverage and relationship building.
As Associate Director of Industry Relations at Temple University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (recently rebranded as the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management), Andrew’s primary responsibility lies in developing strategic plans for building or expanding relationships with the school’s key partners in the above areas, through collaboration with the Associate and Assistant Dean, faculty members and engaged industry leaders. He also provides professional development leadership to students, serves as Project Executive in a Master’s level management consulting course, and supervises interns each semester in order to help prepare students for work in all segments of the industries.
Prior to Temple, Andrew served as a Consulting Advisor with Zoo Advisors, a management consulting firm in the aquarium & zoological field. He worked with his clients to develop new business initiatives, identify new markets, and increase revenue and fundraising opportunities. He also spent seven and a half years as Sales Director at Adventure Aquarium and Currents Ballroom, managing all sales efforts at the attraction with a primary focus on Group sales, Catering/Event sales, Café sales, and Annual Pass sales. Andrew was the primary liaison to Aramark, the aquarium’s exclusive food and beverage partner for three years, leading to a stronger relationship and improvements in concessions offerings, presentation and quality standards, and catered event execution. Andrew also worked on the grand opening team at the National Constitution Center as Group Sales Manager and as Director of Sales for the Philadelphia Phantoms. He has consistently built strong relationships and gained valuable contacts that help his organizations build loyal customers.
Andrew serves on several boards and committees supporting Philadelphia as a tourist destination, including PHL Diversity, a division of PHLCVB, on which he’s an Education Committee member; Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), where he’s on the Student & Educator Advisory Council; as a member of the Philadelphia Academies, Inc. Career & Technical Education Industry Advisory Committee, and he served on the Welcome Committee for the 2015 World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Scranton, and lives with his family in West Philadelphia.
